I created this blog with several loved ones in mind that are looking for new ways to eat well. In my exploration of and experimentation with different nutrition philosophies, I’ve found that a gluten-free, low-sugar, whole foods-focused diet makes me feel the best, and most of the recipes on MHG Food will reflect this. I’ve also seen several people close to me benefit from vegan or dairy-free diets, so I try to include several options that skip animal products as well. Although a full vegan diet isn’t right for me, I do appreciate the environmental and personal health benefits that come from reduced meat consumption, so there’s certainly no harm in having vegetarian options in the food rotation in my book.
Regardless of what you do or don’t aim to eat, one thing I’ve learned (the hard way) is that stress is equally if not more harmful than poor dietary habits. I encourage anyone attempting to improve their health through diet NOT to stress if they are not able to abide precisely by their ideals due to lack of time, money or a momentary lapse of willpower. Love yourself, listen to your body and make the best choices you can based on the options you have available. And don’t be afraid to indulge in moderation!
